Just played a $30 tournament on Partypoker and got crippled on a very interesting hand. There were 460 players in the tournament and I played very well, I seem to be in the zone recently. We started with 1000 in chips and after playing a few very good hands, and getting lucky with a miracle river on one hand, I had gotten up to about 3500. Then a big hand. I had AA in second position. UTG folds, and I raise to 450, 3x the Big Blind. Everyone folds over to 7th position who calls, the rest fold. The flop is T, A, 3 with two spades. I bet out 475, and get called. Turn is a K of clubs, I bet out 1000 and get called. River is a blank of diamonds, I throw in my remaining 850 and he calls showing Ks Qs for a busted flush and a pair of kings. I doubled up to 7400 or so. I played the next 15 hands or so fine and then came down to the BIG ONE. It was definetely a learning hand, and one I've never run into before. UTG, I had JJ, I raised to 600, 3x the BB and get called by 2nd position as well as 7th position. Immediately I think I've got the best hand, because QQ, KK, and AA would've likely have reraised, especially since I was the big stack at the table and could afford to call them with a mediocre hand. The flop comes T74, two clubs. There's 2100 in the pot already and I bet out 1600, hoping, and thinking, that I will take it down right there. However, both players just call. Immediately I think that one or both of them is on a flush draw, someone might have Ac Kc or Ac Qc. Both have large stacks and if we got all in I would be down to about 1800 in chips. The turn is a 2 of diamonds. I push all in and get called all in by 2nd position, as well as 7th position. 7th position shows Ac Kc as I thought he would. I was not worried about him and he is now a 4-1 underdog to win the hand. However, 2nd position shows QQ and I nearly fall out of my seat, perplexed at how he played the hand. It wasn't in his interest whatsoever to play it like that in my opinion. When the hand started I had about 7400 and he had about 5800. I found it odd at the beginning that someone would just call 600 in 2nd position when the UTG player had raised 3x the BB. Then, when there were all low cards and he saw the UTG player bet out 1600, he had to figure one of two things, either the player had KK or AA (which I probably would have thought if I were him) or TT for a set of tens. I had not shown aggression at all in the tournament and had not bluffed, so if I were him I wouldn't have put me on AK, AQ, AJ, or a pair lower than tens. In my opinion, I actually think he did put me on a better hand than his, but he played it like a low-limit cash game hand, calling me down to see what I had. Any way you draw it, I believe that I played the hand correctly and he played the hand incorrectly and he just happened to benefit from playing it wrong this one time. Anyways, I ended up busting out in 108th place out of 460 when it was folded around to me on the button, I raised to 3x the BB with A7o and was reraised all in by KK and had to call.
