9th again....out of 137 players.....

Well, Rick and I once again played our way deep into a multitable tournament yesterday, only to fall just one spot short of the final table. The scenario this time was a $30+$3 buy-in tourney that drew 137 players. This time was a bit different than the 685-person contest on Wednesday. Then, despite our solid play, we were very fortunate to hold up in a series of races with opponents. This time, we were making crystal-clear decisions on calling raises and reraising opponents that seemed to be correct almost every time. As the tournament wore on, we actually felt as though we had a real chance to win this thing (1st place: over $1,200), a far cry from Wednesday night when the chip counts at our table were overwhelming. However, once again we lost with a wired pair (J-J), this time moving all-in with our last 7K against chip leader, who had around 30K. Chip leader held K-10 offsuit and caught his king on the river to bust us and leave us wondering the odds of losing one spot out of the final table for the second straight multitable tournament. The payout was $102, a bit better than last time but still very dissapointing considering how much more we could have gotten by just placing a few spots higher.
