My sister-in-law, Kathrine arrived in Vegas today to celebrate her 21st birthday. Several years ago when we planned this trip, she wanted to party like a rock star and hit all the clubs all night long. Now that shes here.she only wants to play poker. I have two VIP nights comped at the Stratosphere and two at the MGM Grand. I took her right to the poker room at the Stratosphere and set her up in a game. We were playing No Limit Hold Em, $1 & $2 blinds. She only brought $130 for the weekend and bought in for $100 at the Stratosphere. She won a couple pots and was up about $80 when she lost a pig pot with pocket kings and was back to her original buy-in. I took her out to diner and then we headed over to the Sahara so she could play in the ring game and I could play in the tournament. We both bought in for $100 while I waited for the tourney to start. This was a loose table to say the least, people were calling $12 blind, calling $30 and $40 bets on a draw. We were either gonna make a lot of money, or loose a lot. Kathrine was involved in a big hand where I watched her call off all her chips with AK, the other guy had pocket threes, Kathrine hit an Ace on the turn to double up. Whew, I thought she was going to go broke. A little later Kathrine is in the BB and one of the loose players raises all in for around $200 with AQ, the next guy calls for about $200 with AK. Im looking at Kathrine who is only in for $2 as the big blind, Im thinking fold.foldthis is day 1 of your Vegas trip and I dont want to have to cover you for the entire rest of the weekend. She calls and turns over pocket Aces and takes down a $600 pot. Shows how much I know, I dont think Ive ever raked a $600 pot.
