A Poker Llife

I've been playing poorly...not just in poker...in a lot of facets of life I've been making some poor choices lately. Granted, I'm not so impartial to these choices because they've been made so recently and my perspective is so close to them. I just really feel I've been had in a number of areas...
Anyway, I make it sound like my life is in a slump, but we're really talking about a matter of days here. And it certainly hasn't been all that bad. My scene I shot from 'Rounders' turned out excellent and everyone in my Directing class loved it, so I was most pleased with that. And I've got a chance to turn around my grades on Monday when I have a biology test, which I will be studying for significantly. Plus, I'm defintley going out to support the lacrosse team tonight at 8pm when they take on Boston College. I miss those guys and I'm sort of conflicted if I would have chosen not to play if I could make the choice again. To be truthful I feel that the time committment the team demanded was sort of a disciplining factor...like I'm much more likely not to study now than I was then. All I do now is drink and play poker...
What's truly sad is that even though I had a tough beat yesterday involving something a little more serious, which I won't mention here, I would've been fine if I hadn't played so poorly at the table. It's just another sign that poker is controlling my life. In any case, Nehlsen pushed all in on the flop...and I'm holding a middle pair and I call him? It's Nehlsen, it's the flop...he's got to have something. Of course he had pocket pair of the high card from the flop. I almost hit running cards to make a straight...but even then that wouldn't have excused me thinking he was bluffing. The guy is not a hard bluffer and on the flop? I was disgusted with myself. But that was easy to do after the way I got shafted heads up against him in an earlier game. The flop came Q K K and the turn came with another K, and I had nothing at this point but Nehlsen was checking through as well. So we both see the river and it comes Q to give the board a full house. Well there's only one thing he can have that can beat that and he pushes all in and I figure he's trying to scare me off and the board is the best hand. But he had the other K...incredible, it was the second quad in as many hours...just ridiculous. Oh well, sometimes these beats happen, I just gotta get back to my stringy playing.
Til we meet again.
