Bobby Z and Jim R Co-winners of May Event
Monday, May 09 10:56:57 AM 2005
For the second straight game we had new winners in the Poker Player of the Year race.Bobby Z was the big winner for the May game, while Jim R scored his first NPP Tournament victory. Bobby Z finished second in the tournament also!Tolly must have been tired from crushing people in SNG's on Poker Stars.Herb-a-showcards must have been tired from winning the big tourneys on Poker Stars.Nick D must have been tired from winning thousands a night at Greektown.Larry P must have been tired from drinking heavily prior to the game. Or was it because of all the hip turn aerobics to get to the chips he rat-holed on the table behind him?
It was a fun night, but it was cut a little short because it was Mother's Day the next day.If we start at 7pm, the tourney should start at 1am. Agreed or no?Also, the next tournament will be the NPP World Series of Poker. This means a $30 entry fee and an 80 chip start. So rest up before the next game.
Speaking of which, attach all the dates you are available in June for the next game. If we cannot get 8 for sures, we may have to postpone til July - due to vacations, weddings, graduations, etc, etc. I can tell you right now that Father's Day weekend is out for the proprietor of NPP.
Apologies to Mike M. The floorman - Nik Faldo - screwed up. When you passed your deal due to sore hands, I should of dealt whatever game YOU wanted, then dealt my own, rather than both of us anteing. Sorry about that.
Fred K showed alot of patience as he listened to at least 20 internet bad beat stories from Herb-a-showcards and Tolly. He was always there with a supportive, "Wow, thats awful" and the ever popular "Unbeleiveable!". Fred has requested that we limit the bad beat stories to one per player so we can get some actual poker hands in next game - or he is bringing an axe handle to the game to quiet the story teller.Also, bad beat stories are forbidden to be told when it is your deal. We must improve on our 3 hands per hour rate of play. Waving the deck around while telling your bad beat story to people who only want you to deal is like torture. They have to listen to the whole story to get a card.Other speed up techniques we should try are;
Dealer have your game, limits and rules ready BEFORE you get the deck.
Players, shut up and listen to the dealer when he has the deck in his hands
The tournament clock software has a 'TIME CLOCK' feature we could employ.
Any player taking longer than a minute to decide is automatically 'ALL IN' and going "BOTH WAYS". This would even apply to the tournament. And since there is no low hand in Texas Holdem...
Just kidding on the last two suggestions guys.Another announcement - NPP will no longer supply the sub. The 7pm start means everyone had dinner before the game I guess. I love the subs, but at $15.71 per one inch cut of sub was a little pricey. NPP covered the cost, but had to hock the poker chips and get a loan on the 1971 Gremlin to pay it off. I had only 30 payments left too.Dang!The new tournament clock worked great - except it put a 10 min. break in after the 1st two rounds. So round three was 25 minutes instead of 15. I will have that fixed by next game.
