Well, Im still on a bad run, as they call it. 3 table SNG $5+1. Its 4am so it takes a while for the tables to fill. After about 20 minutes we get started. First hand Im dealt A2, in early position. I fold it and sure enough, flop is A28. Oh well.
I was actually doing ok, staying ahead of the average stack, I took 2 good hands and kept my chipstack up. After 30 minutes we were down to 20 players, I had about 2700, 3rd at my table.
In the second half hour I didnt do so well. I got involved in pots that I had to lay down, and the blinds were getting up there. I was getting down to the $1000 mark when I got dealt 99. I limped in for $150 and the flop was 93Q. Someone bet $600, and I went all in. He had a pair of queens, and my set stood up. I doubled up right before the break.
When we came back it only took 3 or 4 hands before we were down to 10 at the 'final table'. Everyone was playing very tight at this point, and it was mostly hands with 2 or 3 players in it. Alot more folding all around and the big blind takes the pot. But eventually the balance began to shift, and we lost our 1st two players in a 3 way all in.
I managed to grab 1 hand on the small blind with a pair and a weak board, but mostly I was getting lousy cards and staying out of it. Unfortunatley, as the blinds went up my stack diminished. With about 1600 left I got 36 on the big blind for $400. Several callers and I checked. The flop was 966. I was golden, so I checked. Next player bet $400, the next raised it to $$1200.
Now, while it was possible that one of the other players had a 6 with a better kicker, I really didnt feel like I had a choice here but to go all in. I wasnt going to do better that trips, and the blinds were gonna kill me. The player next to me folded, but the guy next to him called me. He had pocket 9's!
I finish 7th...
