GRAND HOTEL

This recent issue by the Monopoly folks has added a winner to their extensive slot machine line-up. The game is fast and furious with a couple versions on the slot floor. It can be found with the 9 line or 15 line, all with 5 coin max bet in the nickel version. The payouts differ on the elevator bonus, the top 1000 credit on the 9 line changes to a 2000 on the 15-line game. All the familiar characters/tokens are included, this is a more upscale modeled on the rich hotel. The game does play a bit confusing as the 15 line more common version has some twisted payline configurations that take quite awhile to get used to. They should just get together and make this universal. A side note, with the advent of multi-denominational pay choices on video slots, are we that far removed from the choice of lines to play on a game, it really should not be more difficult than adding versions ala the video poker game screens? The key to Grand Hotels success lies in the wild symbols frequency to maker the chance of some nice hits on the base game pay off more often, and the two decent bonus games. The first bonus game occurs when three elevator symbols appear on the screen anywhere, if you have a stable volume game you'll hear the ring..ring...Ring! and know you have entered the bonus round. Now the fun may begin, here is a game that can quickly go either way and to the extreme. You pick one of five circles to get your free spins, the free spin board is similar to the main board, and you can re-trigger free spins (not too often, but it can happen). You need the red arrows to show up and be aligned on a payline payout combination on the first three reels, if so that gets you into the elevator bonus where you look up, cross your fingers and hope to reach the fifth floor, on each floor are 5 symbols worth different amounts, they flash off until the final lit box is revealed to determine your bonus, remember for multi-coin players this can mean nice hits as the amount, say a 500 credit on the fourth level will be multiplied by lines bet so if playing max that will give you a nice 2000 credits, and you still may have more bonus spins. On the other side, it is quite possible to get this bonus and breeze right through your spins without a trip up the elevator and end up with a measly few hundred credits or worse depending on line/bet played. The main bonus is when three or more hotels are aligned left to right in a winning payline configuration. This takes you top the monopoly board game where four cards are displayed, you pick one to reveal the number of passengers, next you reveal your owned properties by selecting 6 cards, here you hope for the ultimate park place and boardwalk combo or at least a three property monopoly as the rents will increase when a monopoly is owned, they then proceed to ruin around the board and pick hotel rooms. Wherever they land, who knows, but you are rooting for them to choose your highest priced hotels which equals more credits. Some guests are affixed with a 3x bonus multiplier; other features are chance and community chest spots, land here and the deck will deal out a four card hand where you pick one cards to reveal anything from a small credit to a trip up the elevator bonus, any floor! Also, the water works and electric company are good deals as you are awarded a room up any bonus floor, the chance card that takes you to advance to go, will result in a stop and collection of credits at all your houses and hotels along the way. The game is loaded with small perks and quite surprising for players as they discover the multiple opportunities for winning. Alas, one has to be careful, it can experience heavy droughts between bonus games, or they can cluster together, who knows, only the RNG does. All in all, a very fun game if you happen to hit a mid-cycle machine, hopefully the bonus games are your and a lot of fun is had, a game that should be played mid-range, 15 line 3 coins 45 served me best, I had larger wins and faster losses playing max bet. 4 cherries.
