Tied up in a big pot and your opponent has made a large bet to you and you aren't sure what to do? Try this. If a player is aggressive and has bluffed a few times during the game this has worked for me. Ask the player "if I fold will you show me what you have". If he is bluffing or is weak, most of the time he will say "yes". The reason for this is is that he wants you to drop your hand because he is not confident he has a winner, plus, he won't mind showing everybody his great bluff. If he says "no" that probably means he has a good hand and wants you to call cause he wants your money. On the other hand, if the player is tight or has seemed to be a straight-forward, honest player, and he says he will show you, watch out! He probably has the nuts or a very strong hand. I am no expert, but this has worked a number of times for me. The important part of this is knowing your player and how he plays, oh yeah, and you must also have a hand. Try it out and let me know. As a matter fact, try it out at All Star bar tonight because I see a few of you are playing there tonight with The Poker Pub.
