Imagine my surprise, when the horse that the stable lad had told me was a bit of an outsider, but had been set up to run rings round the field, duly collapsed and died of a heart attack...which was very sad however you look at it...but even more ironic as it died on the WAY to the start of the race, and not after it had given its all, won by a short kneck and then died a hero!! On a more practical level, Rule 4 applied and all bets were off, so at least I got my money back. BUT, that's the last time I listen to that little stable lad.
Now then, K had two winners yesterday, and was able to put back a decent amount of cash into the vault of his bank branch. And I am sure you will be delighted to hear that the auditors from head office did not detect that amongst the bundles of £20 notes in the safe, over half of them were photocopies. K was pleased to learn that the auditors had previously worked for Enron, World.Com and more recently Parmalat. If only his bets were as lucky as he is being with the missing bank funds.
Today it has been snowing and getting rather cold, so all those pampered National Hunt horses and jockeys have decided to stay at home in their nice warm stables, so us poor punters are left with the un-apertising prospect of all-weather racing at Southwell. Does anyone actually know where Southwell is? I wonder if it is like Steepledowns and just a virtual race track. Whatever, I keep pouring money into it!
I have two runners today, as does K. He is at the bookies putting large bundles of £20 notes on a horse called Miss Champers in the 2.10. I do hope he has not taken the photocopies, as that would certainly confuse his situation. Anyhow, in the same race I am backing Game Guru, so we shall see who is going to get it right. Probably some rank outside will walk away with it. Later on, we are both backing Yankeedoodledandy in the 4.10.
I will let you know how we get on later.
Bye for now.
