Internet Poker Site Countdown - #19 and #20
Thursday, May 26 10:40:22 AM 2005
Number 20 is Royal Vegas Poker. It is actually part of the Prima Poker network. The site actually shares the same software and player pool of close to forty other sites. The parent site is The Gaming Club (TGC), which finished #2 in my review list. We will discuss the plus and minuses of this site when I talk about the Gaming Club later. The only difference in the two sites is that RVP allows play at two tables simultaneously while TGC allows play on three. What put Royal Vegas Poker ahead of other sites was the number of players on line (Ave. 6,000). What put them ahead of the other forty sites that share the Prima Poker players was the look of the software and Lou Krieger is their spokesman.
Number 19 is Empire Poker. Empire Poker shares the same software and player pool as the largest poker site in the world Party Poker (65,000). The difference is Empire does offer a few more cheap big tournaments. However, they do not have a Frequent Player Program like Party Poker does. They do share the same 20% juice on $5 SNGs like Party Poker, so that makes their SNG's unplayable in my opinion. But the software is good looking, runs great and there is action anytime with that many players available.
