Just playing a couple today and taking the evening off. $20 STT on paradise poker. Read players well. Didn't cling to marginal hands and hit often enough to be comfortable in the late stages. Final hand was KK with 4 left...I went all-in from under the gun. Button (smaller stack) called as did the big blind (larger stack). This was ideal as far as I was concerned as I was almost certain to be strong favourite and the only way I'd be out is if both players beat me and the small stack beat the big stack. Unfortunately that's exactly what happened...KK vs A8o vs A5s. Ace hit the flop and no 5 or flush draw appeared and I was put out 4th. Pretty lousy. BUT I got it all back and more in the other game. This one on WH. Bit of an odd one. One player played the first hand very badly and blew most of his chips. Immediately went all-in with J6 suited on the next hand...several callers but he 2 paired. Then all-in on the turn with trips vs ace high flush...but hit the FH on the river. Then proceeded to wipe the floor with pretty much everyone with a combination of good calls with mediocre hands against bluffers and some extremely nice cards. He had a chance to put me out with J9 when I went all-in with 66 vs 44, but didn't. That hand put it down to 3. Then the 3rd placed guy, who was pretty much forced all-in by the big blind was unfortunate enough to run into me with AA, which held up against both players. Went heads-up with just 20% of the chips. Unusually, the blinds were still low enough to make proper play possible. A bad call by my opponent and a coinflip reversed the positions, but another coinflip and some strong play by him brought it back to 30/70. At this point, I was in the late stages of the other tourney as well. I can cope with this for short periods, but this heads up was protracted and it was becoming problematic playing both at the same time so I decided just to trust to luck. Q2 rivered his pocket pair giving me a very slight lead and in the very next hand my pocket pair held up vs 2 overcards for the win. All in all, a good day. I played nicely enough without being brilliant. I had bad beats, but they were early in the games when they're less important. The final hand on Paradise which would probably have given me an even chance of 1st or 2nd was compensated for on the other table where I was favourite to finish 2nd or 3rd.
