Let me tell you a story bout a man named Sean...
Sunday, February 06 01:10:08 AM 2005
Last evening, at the Capitial Gaming Commission's Official February Tournament, fellow CGC commissioner Sean Culley, through fantastic play and amazing luck claimed his first career victory in a CGC event.
I would like to take this time to recognize and congratulate Commissioner Culley on joining the winners circle, an elite group of former winners. Having seen the desire in the man's eyes and witnessing him come close to victory so many times, I knew it was only a matter of time before he broke on through to the other side.
After yours truly was eliminated by Sean to finish in third place, the play was heads up between one Gary "No Show" Tober, a former champion himself who is best known for being a "no show" for last seasons championship game and Sean Culley.
The action was intense to say the least and I am glad to have been able to be the dealer for the showdown. The battle waged back and forth for what seemed like hours. Both were even and exchanged the chip lead many times.
The marquee moment of the evening occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. eastern standard time. The cards were dealt, with Gary being "on the button", Sean was first to act. He immediately called....ALL IN!!!
Gary (also known as Geraldine) called quickly...perhaps a little too quickly?
Sean turned over his cards...I be damned if he did not have a pocket pair...eights.
A strong hand to say the least while engaged in heads up play. However, Gary's quick all in call could prove to be tragic for the 8's. Gary turned over his cards to reveal....POCKET ACES!!!
In what was a painful sight...Sean let a loud scream of profanity.
The hand...was not over.
I dealt the flop.......
The first card of the flop...well i'll be a bareassed monkey's uncle if it was not an 8!!!
Sean's pain turned into joy...while "No Show" began questioning all that was holy in this world of ours. However, there were still 4 cards to go...and in this crazy game we call no limit texas hold 'em...anything can happen.
On this evening...the remaining four cards could not produce a winner for Gary...and with that hand...Sean Culley has entered the CGC winners circle...a secret society of past winners who control the area of world gaming and production of midget and clown pornography.
I gives me great joy to congratulate Sean on some of the best play I have witnessed at our tournaments.
He also has become the fourth CGC commissioner to win an event...the only member who has not let the juices of victory to run down his face is one Adam Barney...though I have the utmost faith that Adam has the win in him and he will release it upon the world in the near future. The convenant will be complete once Adam wins and the CGC shal become more powerful than Samuel L. Jackson.
Again, I and the CGC congratulate Sean on his first win.
Respectfully,
Christopher "Dixieland Delite" Davis
or Tom Everhard if you prefer.
