May 2005: A Month Of Rebounding
Saturday, May 28 04:59:04 AM 2005
While I had some time to think about all my (bad) plays in the course of April, I took the time to realize what leaks were in my game. Mostly, I realized I was losing big on small to medium pairs that I couldn't lay down. I have plugged that leak and have moved on to brighter pastures. I am also improving my willingness to lay down solid starting hands (AK, AQo) pre-flop with raises in front of me and just wait for a better opportunity to jab and hook.
May has been a much better month for me and I am well over clearing my bills for the month. I came to a realization that if I play how I was playing in April; i.e. afraid to lose, then I will definitely lose in the long run. I just need to stick to my game plan, play through the bad beats, and keep my head up with some fish sucks out a flush when I flop top set and move all-in.
I chopped a tournament 4-way yesterday for a total of $600 each for about 3 hours of play time. Two hours after I left, the place got raided. Good thing I took my money and got out of there and didn't stick around to play cash. Hopefully I will update this more often with more poker commentary and thoughts just to reflect on hands and gameplay. If there's still anyone reading out there and there is something poker related you would like me to discuss, let me know.
