Memorial Day State of The Red Sox
Friday, May 27 08:32:00 AM 2005
So it is back to normal here in Red Sox nation. I have had enough of watching this team lose game after game. I know we won the world series last year, but I demand a better performance than what we have got lately. We are getting beat up by teams that are not nearly as good as us. There are many holes on this team right now that need to be addressed and the most important is Franconas inability to play the right guys.
Why is Kevin Millar treated like he is a superstar last I checked he isn't that good. (The sox just went down 3-0 in the first as it appears the Blue Jays will sweep us) Millar is the worst defensive first baseman in the league. How does he already have 6 errors playing first base. I mean it is an easy posistion to handle defensively yet he seems to make every play harder than it has to be. I love the way Kevin Youkilis plays he gives the team an offensive spark when he is in the game yet Francona continues to trot Millar out there. Millar is hitting .215 and he has started the MOST GAMES ON THE TEAM. It is unreal that he continues to play like he deserves it. We are not talking about Renteria or Manny who are proven all-stars it is KEVIN MILLAR. The team cannot wait for him to get hot cause we are falling into the pattern of mediocracy that marred our team midseason last year.
We head to the Bronx tommorrow and I have a very bad feeling about it. I think the Yankees will sweep us they have got hot vs some really bad teams while we have got cold vs those sames teams. The team is not looking good and a way to turn it around maybe to bench Millar. He should have to earn his playing time not just be given it there are other players who can do his job better than him. Francona grow some balls and make the right move and bench Millar.
