Poker advice

So over the course of this blog, around 5 months now, I've given bits and pieces of poker advice, but I've finally found the secret. Until now, my pocket pairs only won when I played them really tricky postflop, or when I hit a set. The following bit of advice doesn't work so well for online poker, but I'm pretty sure it'll work for the live games here in Austin. "When 'Wild Bill' Hickok was in danger of being cleaned out by a pair of crooked poker sharks, he called the largest raise of the evening with his last greenbacks. At the showdown one of his opponents displayed the winning hand and Bill tossed in his cards. 'Hold it!' he said, as the sharper reached for the pot. Drawing two revolvers, he leveled them at the swindlers. 'I have a pair of sixes and they beat anything.' The slicks watched glumly as Hickok cleared the table. This is a fairly expert play, so I wouldn't recommend trying it on just anyone. Note: Taken from Mason Malmuth's "Poker Essays," and he got it from "Knights of the Green Cloth" by Robert DeArment.
