Not much time - errands to run.
Rangers soccer team (men's) won our first game of the season yesterday over Inferno 2-1.Hard-fought game and we came through like champs to avenge our back to back 2-0 losses from last spring to those guys (including in the first round of the playoffs when we should have been favored).
We only had 11 players for most of the match. Regsistraton problems kept our goalie from being allowed to play. So we stuck a couple other guys back there and they did great. The only goal inferno scored was on a penalty-kick with 4 minutes remaining.
The league also lost our coach's registration e-mail...so he was ineligible to play also and the league had zero flexibility for us which was ridiculous. He's our coach afterall...it's not like we were trying to sneak in some super-star player from out of town.
2 other guys had already said they couldn't make it.And Juan showed up in the 2nd half even though he couldn't run due to a leg-injury.
I was really having a tough time and my legs were dead.It was 97 freaking degrees when we started the match. I kept telling our guys "hey...it's out of bounds...just walk back to your positions. Don't run. save your energy."
I played an absolutely terrible game...not only lack of energy from being kinda out of shape and from the heat...but also just some awful passes where I missed the wide-open teammate by about a million miles.everyone else played borderline spectacular though. It was one of our best passing games ever. We worked the ball around terrifically well up front.
we only had 11 players for most of the match...whereas Inferno had 3 or 4 subs. Our center-midfield guys were flat-out exhausted (more running at those positions usually) but hung in there for all 90 minutes.
It was a well-deserved win for us and I didn't think we were going to get it.Our backs were completely against the wall and we were on our 2nd and 3rd string goalies for crying out loud.huge huge win.
co-ed team is still not looknig that great.we got clobbered in our Saturday scrimmage with a team that finished in 4th place last year.Kevin says he just heard from a couple of more girls who want to play which is good news because we don't have enough.I think we'll come together a bit more...but we're still not there yet.we have another scrimmage this Tuesday. And then might not even play our first game the following Tuesday. You get one 'mulligan' that you can use for any game...and we might use it on the first game just to give the new women players time to make it through the registration process. I told Kevin I thought this was a good idea.
Thankfully it's supposed to start getting cooler outside just a bit.High of 89 is sure better than a high of 99.we also play the later game this Sunday at 7:30 (instead of 5:30 when it's stll quite hot).men's team plays Arsenal this Sunday and we positively destroyed them last year. Assuming we have a few extra players for subs I suspect we should be able to squeeze out a win in that one.
we need the wins early in the season for the men's team.because at the end of the year we play Intrernational twice and CambodianFC twice. And those are probably the toughest two opponents in the league I think. Beginning of the season should be the easier part of the schedule (although you never can tell how good the new teams might be).
Poker has been going pretty badly the past few days.started to turn around last night a bit so hopefully that trend continues.
Went to the WSOP-circuit in Tunica at the Grand last Thursday. Very well run.Took a seat at the 20/40 table because the 10/20 had a long wait-list.Droped $200 there which is no biggie. But then headed over to the single-table satellites.Played in 2 $230 events, a $180 and a $120. Didn't cash in any of them. Also lost a little bit in last-longer bets with other players (chopped 1...lost a couple others). So I dropped $1010 in a few hours down there and decided I had lost enough. The last $230 I signed up for I knew would be my last one of the night. I would either chop a win and finish about even...or win the whole thing and finish +1k...or lose and finish down 1k.Busted out about 5th or so.
I finished 3rd in my $180 which was the first one I played....but didn't even come close after that.
Would have liked to have made a nice run down there and somehow made it to the $10k event this week. No biggie that I'll be skipping it.
Everything was pretty well-run down there. Quite impressive for the most part actually.
Extremely cold in there though. I mean just FREEEEEEZING.When it's 100 degrees outside and you have people complaining about the cold (instead of welcoming it) you KNOW it's really cold.People were wearing jackets in there and were shivering, etc etc. It was ridiculous and was actually colder than the WSOP at the Rio in vegas (which was pretty cold).Very few players were doing any kind of chip-riffles because their hands were too cold (overheard a couple players comment on the fact that they couldn't even riffle their chips).
I actually didn't mind it as much as everyone else...but I was drinking coffee and certainly didn't disagree that the temps in there was pretty ridiculous.
online:5/10 6-max has been a slight loser the past few days.Struggling to get going in the stars satellites.
no big concerns....my bankroll is still quite healthy and I think my game is still okay. Just kinda frustrating obviously.
Okay...that's enough of an update for now.
