The Party Poker Million Quest Begins With Disappointment
Wednesday, May 19 02:08:09 AM 2004
Today I began playing in the Party Poker Million Qualifier tournaments. They are $32 NL Hold 'Em single table tournaments. Winner of the tournament goes on to the semi-finals of the PPM. 2nd and I believe 3rd place receive free entry into another qualifier.
I played 2 of them today and went out in 10th both times! WHAT?! TENTH!?? yeah I'm serious. I don't know what my problem was. The last one was terrible. I tried to bluff some dude when he raised after the flop (I had a low pocket pair with 1 overcard on the flop). I guess I was thinking that the players in these things were actually good players. Then I found out the opposite when he called my all-in bet with top pair shitty kicker. Oh well. I was able to make my money back when I placed 1st and 2nd in two $10 SNGs.
So I will try again in the next couple of days. My plan is spend no more than $320 (pay for 10 qualifiers). I won't count it against my limit if I get 2nd place and free entry into one.
I need to remember, during this quest, that I am still playing on Party Poker. Most of the players are still TERRIBLE and I need to just play the cards straight up.
