Ugh

Last night's tournament at Rick's was quite a bitter experience. After hitting a set of 5's on the second hand of the night, winning a big pot, and generally feeling good about my start, I proceeded to sit there and fold, fold, fold away, until eventually I was forced to make my only allowed rebuy due to to a semi-desperation all-in with an open-ended straight draw off the flop (I lost). After buying back in it was much of the same, as I continued to be dealt a never-ending string of 3-6's, 3-8's, etc. Eventually, with the blinds at 15-30, I called a preflop raise to T75 by Rick, who was holding Q-K of spades, all-in with A-K offsuit, and then sat there as a flop of K-Q-x came down and terminated my favorable 70-30 odds. That was it for me, as I only managed to win an astonishing two pots the whole night. All in all, a miserable night at the tables, especially since I was pretty excited to play at work yesterday.
