What Is It, a Unitarian?

I'll start this off by saying I Hate Politics and always have (and probably always will.) I'm about as apolitical a person as possible. Even so, I can't help but read what others have been saying about Katrina and Bush and every other person in charge who seems to have done an inadequate job in the disaster relief effort. Mean Gene has a thoughtful discussion of the situation up on his blog (although I disagree with almost everything he says.) I guess what I find most interesting to this entire situation is the reactions most people have, as though they have any real knowledge about what is going on (both in the affected areas and in the governement.) As though reading an article on CNN somehow makes everyone an expert. But I will say this. I don't know which I would find more disturbing given the 2 options...to be horrified with the relief effort, or to be secure in the knowledge that everything is ok. For some reason both alternatives leave me feeling uneasy and skeptical.
Why is that? I'm really not sure...perhaps because I hate how quickly everyone is to choose one side or the other. I think people overestimate just how important a figure Bush is, in terms of raw power. Anytime something goes wrong, people blame the prez. It's been this way for as long as I've ever been alive, and as long as anyone can probably remember. Stock market crash? Presidents fault. Depression, Recession? President! Half broken camera as a Christmas gift...PRESIDENT!
How long are we gonna use Bush as a scapegoat for every single thing that goes wrong in this country. I mean, sure...I dislike him as much as the next guy, but I don't think that he's the cause of every misery I am confronted with in life. That's the problem with most people in the country. No body wants to take any responsibility for anything that they can blame on someone else.
The way I see it, people in this country are just pissed that for the first time in a while, America isn't so secure from all the things which every other country in the world has always had to deal with. Our gas prices are going up, but are just now reaching what other countries have been paying for years. Natural disasters, terrorist attacks, less than stellar government officials? Welcome to the real world. Name me another fucking nation, not counting Canada, that doesn't have to deal with this shit. And I don't think heaping all of our problems onto one man is gonna solve anything. Maybe if middle America wasn't such a mindless mass we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place.
(btw, don't bother leaving me any comments about my views, or your views, unless you are very civil about it, cause i probably dont care what you have to say anyways, atleast about politics)
