so yesterday i went over to commey after work for some live cash game action. got there at about 6 and hopped on the $400 NL table. played some solid poker and about tripled up in the first hour. nothing spectacular. i wasnt getting hit with the deck by great cards but just called down some bluffers and got the maximum out of my good hands. but the table was a must move and i got moved to the main game where everyone on the table had about $3000-4000 in front of them.
i got bullied left and right at this table with my short stack and soon was down to $50 by the time 10pm rolled around. i usually go home about this time on weekdays so i wont be too tired for real work the next day. until.....
- i found AJ and went all in announcing i was ready to go home. got 3 callers and flopped a full freakin house, A-A-J!!! wish i had more money!!! actually at this point im hoping to get beat so i can win the bad beat jackpot but no such luck. can you believe that ive been playing at commerce about 20-40 hours a week for the last year and have never hit the jackpot?!?!?! not even table share. everyone i know that plays even half as many hours as i do has hit it at least twice. i know some foos that have hit it twice in the same day. but i havent even got table share yet. amazing.
- next hand i pick up AA utg and decide to slow play since im so low on chips ($200), i dont care if i get busted by 7-2, i wanna triple up again. i get 3 limpers. flop comes junk and i check, next guy bets, next guy calls, next guy folds, i smooth call. next card come junk again, not completing any draws. i check, next guy bets, next guy calls, i go all in with the check raise. original bettor calls with JJ, next guy folds. my AA holds up and the guy curses at me for slow playin AA. so now im at about $500.
- next hand i pick up KK on the BB, no joke. 4 limpers until the maniac on the button raises to $80. this guy (has about $3000 in front of him) has been an absolute maniac at our table and people have been starting to play back at him. i raise it up to $250 (about half my chips) since i dont wanna see an ace on the flop knowing everyone would fold except maybe maniac. theyve just seen me limp with AA so i wonder what they were thinking. anyways, maniac calls. flop comes junk and maniac puts me all in. i call. he has freakin A-6 suited for nuthing, no pair, no draws. i avoid the A on the turn and river and double up again.
so in a matter of 3 hands and 10 minutes, ive turned $50 into $1000, making me a $600 winner for the nite. i should go home since its past my bed time anyway rite? wrong. i ended up staying till 1 am on a work nite hoping to ride my rush. unfortunately my rush ended with those 3 hands and i ended up leaving down $31!!! what a waste of time!!!! now im all tired at work today all for nuthing.
on a side note, ill be starting my vacation next friday which i coordinated with the heavenly holdem series at commey. i plan on playin every weekday event (weekends are for girlfriend) along with satellites, cash games, and online play all day. so i may slow down my poker over the next week so that my bankroll will survive till then. it will be a two week adventure as a wanna be professional poker player so stay tuned....
